You can make a difference and provide assistance that may change--or even save--a life. You can help a battered person take the first step to escape an abusive relationship and to obtain an order to prohibit further violence.
Volunteers staff clinics in local courthouses and interview clients, review the background of the case, and draft the client’s declaration-the crucial evidence necessary for the court to issue a temporary restraining order.
LAFLA Domestic Violence Courthouse Clinics are held at
Santa Monica Courthouse, 1725 Main Street
M-F 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Volunteers must plan to stay until the last client is seen, as much as 60-90 minutes after the posted close of each clinic.
Pre-registration is required.
Please note: The clinic is held at the Santa Monica courthouse; the trainings are not.
