Worker’s Rights Clinic

Las Familias del Pueblo, 7th Street near Main St.

Low-wage workers face significant barriers when trying to receive back wages or overtime from their employers. This clinic meets Wednesday evenings at a community center in skid row. Volunteers meet individually with clients to conduct intake and determine the best method for resolving the client’s problems. Some cases are retained for representation.

The clinic uses pro bono attorneys, volunteer law students, and volunteer bilingual Spanish interpreters to conduct intake and provide clients with the possible solutions to their unpaid wages and other issues. There are no trainings; new volunteers learn by shadowing staff or by individual meetings with staff. Volunteers must apply and be approved before attending a clinic.
