LAFLA’s Government Benefit Unit runs a clinic at the State Fair Hearing Office three or four days a week. The Office conducts hearings for recipients and applicants in a variety of government benefit programs. LAFLA’s clinic meets with clients before they attend their hearings and helps to prepare them for the hearing or provides representation before the hearing officer.

Volunteer attorneys and law students, especially bilingual Spanish speaking, are needed to counsel and advise clients on how to present their case in the hearing. Volunteers may also choose to represent individuals in their hearings.
