LAFLA to Honor Attorney Bert Fields and the Hon. Kim Wardlaw at 2005 Access to Justice Dinner

On Tuesday October 18, the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles (LAFLA) will host its seventh annual Access to Justice Dinner at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, 9876 Wilshitre Blvd.  LAFLA, the oldest and largest public interest law firm in this city, is pleased to honor entertainment attorney Bert Fields of Greenberg Glusker Fields Claman Machtinger & Kinsella LLP with the 2005 Access to Justice Award. In a career spanning five decades, Bert Fields has earned a stellar reputation zealously representing both creative talent and major studios, famously never losing a trial.  Noted actor-director-producer Warren Beatty will present the award to Mr. Fields.

LAFLA will also pay tribute to the Honorable Kim McLane Wardlaw, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, with the 2005 Maynard Toll Award for Distinguished Public Service in recognition of her exemplary career as an attorney and jurist committed to furthering justice and equality for all. And the associates of Jones Day LLP will receive the 2005 Pro Bono Associates Award in recognition of their pro bono accomplishment in closing down a fake legal aid that had defrauded clients, and besmirched LAFLA’s good name. 

Rita Tuzon, president of LAFLA’s Board of Directors said, “Each year, Los Angeles’ legal, entertainment  and business communities turn out for this dinner to support LAFLA’s mission - to promote access to justice, strengthen communities, combat discrimination, and effect systemic change through representation, advocacy and community education.  LAFLA could not accomplish the tremendous amount that it does without their partnership.”  Tuzon is also a co-chair of this year’s Access to Justice Dinner.
