Homeless Veterans make up a third to half of the homeless population in Los Angeles. Veterans benefits can greatly improve the lives of men and women who served our country and are now forgotten, but the Veterans Administration moves very slowly, often taking years for claims to wend through the process.
Stabilizing the living situation of veterans who are waiting for their claims to be resolved is critical, so they will still be around when the process finally comes to an end.
In a joint effort with the Inner City Law Center, LAFLA's Bill Smith Homeless Veterans Project helps to:
| Secure government benefits for veterans | |
| Stabilize their living situation | |
| Get homeless veterans back on their feet and permanently improve their lives |
Success Story
Thanks to LAFLA sleuth, a disabled veteran was able to put his life back together. Read his story.
