Housing/Eviction Defense Services

The Housing/Eviction Defense units work to create and preserve decent and affordable housing for low-income tenants in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. We do this by:

Community outreach/education
Legal representation
Public policy advocacy
Pro per assistance
Collaboration with Community-Based Organizations and Government Agencies

The Eviction Defense Center specifically addresses the needs of tenants facing unlawful detainers (eviction). We assist them by:
Preparing pro per answers/motions
Providing legal representation in meritorious cases
Assisting with illegal lockouts and utility terminations

The Housing unit works with tenants to:

Protect and preserve government subsidized housing
Alleviate slum conditions through outreach, advocacy, and litigation
Create and preserve affordable housing through advocacy and community economic development
