The Housing/Eviction Defense units work to create and preserve decent and affordable housing for low-income tenants in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. We do this by:

The Eviction Defense Center specifically addresses the needs of tenants facing unlawful detainers (eviction). We assist them by:

| Assisting with illegal lockouts and utility terminations |
The Housing unit works with tenants to:
| Protect and preserve government subsidized housing | |
| Alleviate slum conditions through outreach, advocacy, and litigation | |
| Create and preserve affordable housing through advocacy and community economic development |
Trial-Prep Clinics

Unlawful Detainer Equal Access Project (UDEAP)
This specially funded eviction defense project provides pro per defendants legal assistance to help prepare them for trial. A team of volunteer attorneys are available to interview tenants, assess the strengths and weaknesses of the case, provide counsel and advice, assist in negotiation, and provide representation where possible.
