The Government Benefits unit helps low-income people obtain and keep benefits in the following programs:

| General Relief |
We advise clients about their legal rights, negotiate with government agencies, and sometimes represent clients at administrative hearings.
We conduct Pro Per clinics where we train clients to represent themselves in simple administrative hearings. Visit the LAFLA Calendar for clinic times, dates, and locations.
In order to effect systemic change, the Government Benefits unit also undertakes welfare reform policy work.
Welfare Check-In
Advocates and social service providers can come to a twice-monthly Welfare Check-In meeting where current information about benefits programs and policies is discussed.
