The Associates Advisory Board’s Seventh Annual AAB Fab Summer Event is set for Wednesday, July 18, 6 – 8 p.m. at the South Plaza of The Colburn School of Music. The AAB Fab Summer Event brings together young attorneys from law firms, corporate law departments, public agencies and non-profit organizations throughout Los Angeles in a mixer to support and benefit LAFLA. The Associates Advisory Board Needs You!

In 2005, LAFLA created the Associates Advisory Board, comprised of associates from over 20 of LA’s major law firms. The AAB supports LAFLA by enhancing awareness of LAFLA’s mission, striving to increase pro bono involvement, and engaging in fundraising efforts to support LAFLA’s programs and services.If you’re looking for leadership or networking opportunities, membership on the AAB is a great way to get started!

How to Get Involved:

Whether you are interested in providing pro bono legal services, planning social and recruitment events, or fundraising, the AAB has a committee for you:

Pro Bono—As a member of the Pro Bono Committee, you can work with LAFLA to develop pro bono opportunitiesfor the Associates Board. Pro Bono committee members also act as liaisons for LAFLA to help get their individual firms involved in one of LAFLA’s many service projects, such as LAFLA’s program to provide legal assistance to undocumented victims of domestic violence.

Fundraising Committee—Committee members encourage charitable giving to LAFLA by overseeing the Associates Campaign for Legal Aid, the primary fundraising vehicle of the Associates Board. This year the Associates Board dedicated its fundraising efforts to supporting LAFLA’s Bill Smith Homeless Veterans Project.

Recruitment Committee—The Associates Board is always seeking new members, and working to maintain relationships with existing members. The Recruitment Committee works to achieve these goals by hosting recruiting events and implementing outreach strategies to recruit associates from law firms throughout Los Angeles to join the Associates Board.

Social/Outreach Committee—This Committee plans and prepares summer social events to increase awareness of LAFLA and the Associates Board among law students, firm associates, and the larger legal community.
