LAFLA�s Celebrates
80th Anniversary with Photos

More than 250 people attended LAFLA 80th birthday celebration at Town & Gown, USC. Justice Earl Johnson, Jr. served as keynote speaker, in which he recalled joining the LAFLA Board of Directors in 1969 as a USC representative. LAFLA also thanked and presented awards to its board members and “Partners in Equal Justice” for their exemplary support. They include: Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP,Greenberg Glusker, Irell & Manella LLP, Latham & Watkins LLP, Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP, O’Melveny & Myers LLP, Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP, Skadden, Arps and Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP.

2009 Youth Photo Project

As part of our 80th anniversary celebration, LAFLA held a compelling children’s photography exhibit. The photos were taken by children of our clients and local communities. The children, aged 8-15 comprised of a diverse group from countries such as Cameroon, Kenya, Senegal, Pakistan, Mexico and the U.S. The children were given cameras and themes for their assignments and the results are amazing! Each child or teen had a hopeful and inspirational outlook on life despite some of the difficulties they have already encountered. The cameras and photography training were graciously donated by Freestyle Photographic Supplies without whom this project would not have been possible.
