In 2000, Ms. Glenn initiated LAFLAs Housing Improvement Project, which addresses slum-housing conditions through policy advocacy, outreach and affirmative litigation. Ms. Glenn works with members of the Los Angeles City Council and California State Assembly to draft legislation and policies that address sub-standard housing conditions. She is a member of the Healthy Homes Collaborative, which focuses on policy and litigation strategies that recognize lead poisoning of children as a dangerous housing condition with health consequences. Ms. Glenn began her career in legal services as a first year law student working in LAFLA's Housing Unit. After receiving her J.D. from Loyola Law School in 1992, she worked as an attorney with the Legal Services Program for the Pasadena, San Gabriel Valley and Pomona areas where she did public benefits, education, consumer and housing matters. Ms. Glenn returned to LAFLA in 1999 as a staff attorney. Her experiences at LAFLA range from assisting a tenants group purchase their building; training government officials and housing inspectors to deal effectively with slum conditions; negotiating relocation benefits for tenants forced to vacate; code enforcement; and litigating major habitability cases including a $3.5 million judgment for sub-standard conditions.
