| Malcolm Carson has more than 10 years of experience working with neighborhood and community groups on land-use, development, transportation, organization building, landlord/tenant and environmental issues. He oversees a staff of 15 attorneys and legal advocates who provide legal and technical assistance to community-based organizations, and engage with local, state, regional and federal agencies on policy/advocacy areas of transportation, land-use and environmental planning. Before joining LAFLA, Carson was employed with the National Economic Development and Law Center, Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, LLP, and the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office. Carson is currently a Commissioner for the City of Los Angeles Department of Transportation; a co-founder and director of the Alliance for West Oakland Development; and a member of the regional advisory body for the I-710 Long Beach Freeway Major Corridor Study. Carson has a Juris Doctorate and Master's Degree in City and Regional Planning from the University of California at Berkeley.
