Position: PRO BONO COORDINATOR
Location: Central Community Office
Salary: $48,686 to $77,506/annual DOE, excellent benefits

The Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles (LAFLA) is the oldest and largest law firm for low-income people in California and is currently accepting applications for the position of Pro Bono Coordinator for our Central Community office..
The Organization:
LAFLA (www.LAFLA.org) consists of approximately 150 employees,
and over 60 attorneys. The program has an annual operating budget
of more than fourteen million dollars, and operates six neighborhood
offices and four court-based offices.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of two (2) years experience in the practice of law. Familiarity with the Los Angeles legal community a plus
- Knowledge of and interest in the problems of low-income people
- Demonstrated ability to design systems & maintain data information
- Knowledge of the unlawful detainers process, preferred
- Knowledge of Immigration law, preferred
- Excellent analytical, communication and presentation skills; ability to advocate persuasively for the program’s mission
- Energetic self-starter who can take initiative
- Ability to collaborate effectively as a team player; and
- Computer literate.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
The Pro Bono Coordinator, under the supervision of the Pro Bono Director will:
- Actively recruit and place volunteer attorneys, law students and others to staff clinics, take individual cases for representation, and co-counsel on litigation; co-counsel and provide expert consultation as appropriate
- Design and implement systems of new attorney participation at the eviction defense center
- Co-counsel with private attorneys on unlawful detainers
- Devise and implement a system for placing and monitoring individual, direct service pro bono cases and tracking
- Outcomes and report to Pro Bono Director in order to ensure LAFLA’s compliance with LSC regulations regarding
- Private attorney involvement
- Provide logistical support to substantive units conducting volunteer trainings
- Monitor performance with LSC and IOLTA sub-contractees: negotiate annual contracts, process invoices, monitor performance under supervision of Pro Bono Director
- Other duties as determined by the Pro Bono Director and senior management
